The books that already know your trucks.
Bookkeeping for Canadian trade contractors and small fleets. Log a pump receipt in under a minute and HSLedger keeps the litres and the odometer, not just the dollars — so it can tell you what each truck costs per kilometre and hand your accountant a clean year at tax time.
14-day free trial. Then $29/mo for solo operators, or $49/mo + $12/truck for fleets. No credit card required.

The numbers a fleet runs on, from receipts you already keep
Nothing to install and no hardware to fit. Four fields at the pump is the whole of the work.
Cost per kilometre, per truck
Tag fuel, repairs, tires and insurance to a vehicle. HSLedger divides by the distance between odometer readings and tells you what each unit actually costs to run.
Litres per 100 km
Measured full tank to full tank, so a partial fill or a mistyped odometer can't quietly skew the number. Watch a truck get thirstier before the repair bill arrives.
Receipts that keep the litres
Most bookkeeping apps keep the dollar amount and throw the rest away. HSLedger keeps litres, price per litre, odometer and station — the four things that make the rest possible.
Invoices in CAD
Clean invoices with HST/GST per province, a share link for the customer, and draft, sent, paid and overdue tracked without a spreadsheet.
Where your fuel money goes
Litres by station brand across the year — the figure a fuel-card rebate is actually priced against, and one almost no operator can produce on demand.
Tax-time, already done
Business income, expenses by category, mileage and an estimate of the income tax and CPP to set aside — exportable as CSV for your accountant.
Bookkeeping that fits in your pocket
Record a sale, snap a receipt, log a trip, send an invoice, all from your phone. At year-end, Tax-Time pulls it together into a summary and a CSV your accountant will thank you for.
- Multiple businesses, cleanly separated
- HST/GST on invoices, configured per business
- Receipts attached to expenses
- Mileage with CRA reference rates, centrally configured
- Income, expense, profit & loss, invoice, customer and mileage reports
- CSV export of everything you record
Your data, your control
Row-level security means only your signed-in account can read your records. Export everything as CSV or delete your account from Account settings.
Measured, not estimated
Fuel use is worked out full tank to full tank, and a pair whose implied figure is impossible is discarded rather than averaged in. A mistyped odometer cannot quietly move your numbers.
Organization, not tax filing
Tax-Time gets your records ready for you or your accountant. It does not file with the CRA or decide your tax position.
Questions, answered plainly
Is HSLedger a bank or connected to my bank?
No. HSLedger never asks for your banking password. You add records yourself or import a CSV from your bank. Legitimate, secure bank connections may be offered in the future.
Does it file my taxes or talk to the CRA?
No. Tax-Time helps you organize your own records and export them. It does not determine your tax obligations and is not a CRA service.
Is HSLedger free?
No. 14 days free, everything switched on, no credit card required. After that it is $29/mo for solo operators, or $49/mo plus $12 per truck for fleets. Annual billing is two months free. HSLedger is paid for by the people who use it, not by selling anything about them.
Where is my fleet data stored?
In Canada. The database and file storage run in the ca-central-1 region in Montreal, encrypted in transit and at rest, with row-level rules so only your signed-in account can read your records. You can export or delete everything from Account at any time.
Do I have to connect my bank?
No, and there is no bank connection to opt into today. You log a receipt at the pump in well under a minute, or import a CSV from your bank. HSLedger never asks for a banking password.
